
Career development and progression at The Pet Vet - Lauren's journey

"I recently had the pleasure of speaking with Lauren Griffith about her incredible career journey with us. Lovely Lauren joined our team in September 2017 as a Customer Assistant (now known as Customer Experience Coordinator) at our Rotherham surgery. With a background in retail, Lauren saw this as a fantastic opportunity for a career change into the veterinary world, despite knowing very little about the industry at the time.
"In the beginning, she admits that she felt overwhelmed with the transition, but she quickly found the strength to speak up and ask for support. Lauren buddied with the Barnsley team for 2 weeks, and returned to Rotherham with renewed confidence.
"Her potential didn’t go unnoticed, and it wasn’t long before Lauren was promoted to Senior Customer Assistant (now Customer Experience Manager). Lauren thrived in this role for five years, and as she looked for further progression, she expressed her interest in new opportunities. When the chance arose to join Donna’s team as an Operations Coordinator, supporting the surgeries with, for example, stock control, maintenance of ezyVet, and ordering of surgery consumables. Lauren eagerly took this new opportunity. As The Pet Vet continued to grow, Lauren’s role naturally evolved into more of a finance-focused position, and a year ago, Lauren moved into the finance team.
"Lauren’s growth and learning have been exponential since then. She is currently completing a credit control and debt management course, funded by the The Pet Vet, which is further expanding her skill set."
