Rachel Green achieves her Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour

New charity partnership between The Pet Vet & Blue Cross

Rachel Green RVN AdvDipCanBeh has been awarded a merit in her Level 6 Advanced Diploma in Applied Animal Behaviour.

Rachel says: “I’m really happy to be able to see dogs and cats for behaviour consults, and as an RVN being able to help expand the services The Pet Vet can offer. I love working with the Vet team to support our customers with their pet behaviour concerns.”

Rachel has helped to develop a stress-reduction initiative for pets waiting in reception, which includes the removal of reception phones, separate dog & cat seating areas, and blankets spritzed with Pet Remedy – a natural calming solution.

Rachel offers behaviour consultations across The Pet Vet’s 12 surgeries – either online, or in person at their surgeries in Rotherham, Barnsley, Doncaster, Lincoln and Nottingham.

Through her behaviour clinics, Rachel is assisting customers with:

Dogs:

  • Repetitive behaviours eg shadow chasing, flank sucking or car chasing
  • Separation anxiety
  • Noise phobias
  • General anxiety
  • Attention seeking
  • Barking
  • Introducing babies (whilst the mother is pregnant or after birth)
  • Introducing new pets
  • Problems lead walking including jumping up and pulling

Cats:

  • Feline aggression towards either humans or other pets
  • Inappropriate urination or defecation
  • Scratching
  • Anxiety-related behaviours such as overgrooming

Rachel’s behaviour consult package includes a 1-hour consult, a written report with action plan, a follow-up phone call with the customer to check their pet’s progress, and ongoing email support, with the option of a follow-up appointment if required.

“Rachel has helped us change our cats’ lives for the better.”

Rachel’s advice has been transformative for the families who have recently benefitted from her assistance.

“With Rachel’s advice and expertise, we’ve noticed an instant change to our cats’ happiness and wellbeing. I’d recommend visiting Rachel without a shadow of a doubt for anyone struggling with their pet’s behaviour.” Lauren Griffiths.

Investing in CPD

We invest heavily in CPD for Nurses and facilitate learning opportunities in areas they feel passionate about. An increasing number of Nurses across the group are performing Schedule 3 procedures, and many RVNs are studying towards certificates in areas of clinical interest, including surgery, medicine, anaesthesia, ECC, dermatology and exotic pet care.

Being a Nurse at The Pet Vet

We’re proud to offer our Nurses generous salaries, flexible working patterns and a fantastic range of benefits. Anyone interested in being part of our award-winning, independent, family-owned veterinary group can browse our latest vacancies.
